Restaurateur owner of Glasgow steakhouse The Butchershop Bar & Grill and three floor dining venue, Hutchesons Bar & Brasserie, Chairman of Glasgow Welcomes

Over the last two decades James has been working in the hospitality industry, honing his talents and building a successful restaurant business in Scotland. From his days as a coat check boy at one of Glasgow’s oldest restaurants to working as a waiter during his time as a student in Newcastle; then on to New York to work under renowned restaurateur Keith McNally in Balthazar, James' passion for his craft has never faltered.

Opening acclaimed steakhouse The Butchershop Bar & Grill with his business partner Louise Rusk in April 2010 in Glasgow’s West End, and their second venue Hutchesons Bar & Brasserie last year in A-listed architectural icon Hutchesons hall. Beautifully restoring and transforming it into a three floor dining venue serving the best of Scottish food and drink in Glasgow’s Merchant City.

A champion for training, James is also the Chairman for Glasgow tourism service initiative – Glasgow Welcomes and vice chair of the Glasgow Restaurant Association. Find more information about www.glasgowwelcomes.com
