Alessi adds two new items, the flower vase and serving plate, and two new shades, pale blue and
pale green to the ‘Tonale’ table set which was unveiled to great acclaim in 2009.
The first of the new items in the collection is the flower
vase. Produced from ceramic stoneware with a satinfinished
exterior surface and smooth internal finish, it
comes in two sizes and two colours – the larger version
in pale blue, the smaller version in pale green. Next is the
serving plate, rectangular
in shape with raised edges,
it is also available in two
sizes, both in light grey.
Conceived by British Architect David Chipperfield as an exercise in
refining the functions of domestic products, the ‘Tonale’ project
draws its inspiration from Oriental ceramics and
the shades used by Bolognese painter Giorgio
Morandi in his works with the purity of form.
Joining the original warm,
earthy tones of the existing
‘Tonale’ series, the new
Pale Blue and Pale Green
shades – available in the
cup, teacup, soup plate,
bowls, salad bowls and vases – are designed to recall natural
elements such as water and sky.
Durable enough for everyday use, the whole collection is designed
for a modern aesthetic with functionality and versatility in mind.
